Marine Corps Marathon OCT 25, 2009 Washington DC

Marine Corps Marathon Pictures, Images and Photos

Welcome. Hopefully the article in The Avery Post "Running With a Purpose" By Phillip Greene has brought you to this blog. I must admit it has brought me to post this today :).

Our wonderful family members Mark and Kathryn T. Maya sure are both doing what they can to help us bring our girls home from Ethiopia. Running in the Marine Corps Marathon is just one way. So a big shout out must go to them!! Thank you doesn't even come close to how we feel.

There are an estimated 143,000,000 orphans in the world, its nearly impossible to comprehend that large of a number....143,000,000 orphans standing shoulder to shoulder will go around the 10,913 mile perimeter of the USA nearly 4 times.
143,000,000 orphans in a single file line would reach around the Earth over two time... Adoption is a call from God. To some we seem crazy. People question our decision in many ways.... However, GOD has called us to adopt from ETHIOPIA and we feel Blessed!!!

If you would like to Support the "Running For a Purpose". Please contact Mark Maya at mark.maya@hotmail.com, simply put nFaith2Ethiopia.com on the subject line or go directly to the website under How You Can Help.

THANK YOU!!

GOD BLESS!!

Kool-Aid

The next day, the toy sale also turned into a Kool Aid stand. The kids sold it all day. They ended up making $41.05. It's amazing....these kids pray for orphans, always asking about our girls or adoption. Then this.....WOW!! I mean they have a heart for orphans more than most grown ups I know!!

Planting seeds :)

Yesterday, around 7:30pm I went outside to
check on the kids..... This is what I found. They
had set up a Toy Sale.....to raise money for our adoption.
HOW SWEET!!
WE ARE OFFICIALLY ONE DOLLAR CLOSER TO OUR GOAL!! :)

Thursday, July 2, 2009

No matter where we are.....we are always thinking of and praying for our girls. Actually for all the orphans all over the world.

Let us know if you would like a prayer bracelet.

*UPDATE* On our fundraiser letter asking 1,000 people to donate $10.00.----

We have received $525.50. Yay!!
That is around 52 $10.00. Our dream is 1,000 people giving $10.00. I would say our goal is 100 people giving $10.00. However out of the 52, ten dollars actually the money came from about 20 people. We are doing good. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THAT DONATED AND ALL THAT CONTINUE TO PRAY!!

Once again 100% of the ten dollar donation will go to helping give a child a home, christian family, food etc...

Stepping out of our box while, Stepping in FAITH

As many people know Adoption can be very expensive. Especially international adoption.
So we when started feeling led to adopt internationally instead of through the foster care system...our anxiety for funds increased. We had heard of several adoption grants that would help you send out letters to your friends and family, then they would match whatever you raised up to a certain amount. Although Chris and I thought it sounded like a good idea, we chose not to do that. Not sure if it was that we didn't feel led to or that we wouldn't come out of our box enough to ask for help.

But at the end of the day ADOPTION is an act of GOD!! So people who choose to help are doing the works of God. There are believers all over that are called by God to do a certain mission. From huge tasks like the Jones', that are from our area who are packing up their family and moving to China, to as simple as the people who make meals for those in need. All is important and each are called to do their own thing. Adoption is one of ours.

GOD has called us to adopt. So as we keep telling ourselves....IF HE CALLED US TO IT, HE WILL SEE US THROUGH IT. But we want to feel as though we have done our part. So if in the end... we were led a different direction we will know we did all that we could do. We recently got an fundraiser idea from someone and chose to do it. So last week we sent out a special fundraiser letter asking for $10.00 and to forward it on to others. We believe even during this hard economic times that most could give $10.00. It is kind of like a chain letter...that should only be sent to people you feel would love to help. We are asking 1,000 people to give $10.00. You will be able to keep up with our success here on our blog. Please continue to keep us in your prayers!!

If you would like to receive our letter to support our cause please let us know. We can mail it or send via email.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!! THANK YOU!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!

We pray for the Children

This is so good. I found this on http://www.carolinespromise.blogspot.com/

We Pray for the Children

We pray for the children who put chocolate fingers everywhere,
who like to be tickled, who stomp in puddles and ruin their new pants,
who sneak Popsicles before supper, who erase holes in math workbooks,
who can never find their shoes.

And we pray for those who stare at photographers from behind barbed wire,
who’ve never squeaked across the floor in new sneakers, who never had crayons to count,
who are born in places we wouldn’t be caught dead, who never go to the circus,
who live in an X-rated world.

We pray for children who bring us sticky kisses and fistfuls of dandelions,
who sleep with the dog and bury goldfish, who give hugs in a hurry and forget their lunch money, who cover themselves with Band-Aids and sing off-key,
who squeeze toothpaste all over the sink, who slurp their soup.

And we pray for those who never get dessert, who watch their parents watch them die,
who have no safe blanket to drag behind, who can’t find any bread to steal,
who don’t have any rooms to clean up, whose pictures aren’t on anybody’s dresser,
whose monsters are real.

We pray for children who spend all their allowance before Tuesday,
who throw tantrums in the grocery store and pick at their food, who like ghost stories,
who shove dirty clothes under the bed, who never rinse out the tub,
who get visits from the tooth fairy, who don't like to be kissed in front of the school,
who squirm in church and scream in the phone,
whose tears we sometimes laugh at and whose smiles can make us cry.

And we pray for those whose nightmares come in the daytime, who will eat anything,
who aren't spoiled by anybody, who go to bed hungry and cry themselves to sleep,
who live and move, but have no being.
We pray for children who want to be carried, and for those who must.
For those we never give up on, and for those who never get a chance.
For those we smother with our love, and for those who will grab the hand of anybody kind enough to offer.

Update

Thursday our case manager sent us the OK to send our Dossier to get it authenticated at the NC SEC of state, then Washinton DC for federal authenticaton and the Ethiopian Embassy. I think I got all that correct. After all of that......Drum roll.....Our papes are headed off to Ethiopia, that is the point where we wait for a referral. Yay!! YIPPIE!!! Praise the Lord. Oh there is on bit of info I'm trying to not think about.....the thing that we are just trying to give to God without taking it back every millisecond. It's the around $10,000.00 that we need BEFORE the Dossier can be sent to Ethiopia. IT WILL COME. Our ideas to raise money haven't worked so far. But we are brainstorming for new ones and keep waitng for money to fall from the sky Ha! Ha!:)

and the word says.....

The Bible and Adoption

"Pray without ceasing…" 1Thessalonians 5:17. As you prayerfully consider your adoption, the following verses may help you. We know that all good things happen in God's time to those who trust in him. May God grant you His grace as you travel along the path He sets out for you. "We prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted what we asked of Him." 1 Samuel 1:27

On Adoption and Corporal Acts of Mercy

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."
James 1:27

"And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me."
Mathew 18:5

"…learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of fatherless, plead the case for the widow."
Isaiah 1:17

"A Father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families…"
Psalm 68:5-6a

"Vindicate the weak and the fatherless; do justice to the afflicted and destitute."
Psalm 82:3

"I was hungry and you fed me, I was thirsty and you gave me a drink, I was homeless and you gave me a room, I was shivering and you gave me clothes, I was sick and you stopped to visit, I was in prison and you came to me…Then the King will say, 'I'm telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me---you did it to me.'"
Mathew 25: 35-36, 40 (MSG)

"For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father."
Romans 8:15

On Taking Action

"Be doers of the word, and not hearers only…"
James 1:22

"A man makes a plan in his heart, but God directs his path."
Proverbs 16:9

"Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it."
Proverbs 3:27

"There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear."
1 John 4:18

On God's Plan for Your Family

"'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'"
Jeremiah 29:11

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."
Proverbs 3:5-6

"Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power at work in us, to Him be the glory."
Ephesians 3:20

"Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west."
Isaiah 43:5

"Orphans get parents, the homeless get homes. The reign of terror is over; the rule of the gang lords is ended."
Psalm 10:18 (MSG)

Love one another means what to you??

We mailed out three adoption grants...PLEASE pray for those. We have not received any money from any where yet so we are just anxious to see how God will provide. We know he will provide! Also,Our family went to see African Children's Choir Tuesday. They were all so amazing!! It makes my heart smile to hear all the good things that have happened and are happening because of that program. There is SO MUCH WE CAN DO for the children of the world. Bit by bit. What is little to one could mean the world to another. Could mean life to another. Take a look at this video...it seems so distant for what we know. But its real....it is happening in the world we live in today. WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT IT?

Friends FWD of our website

This blog is just a letter my friend Heather sent as her email to FWD our website address on. I thought it was great. So I asked if I could post it. www.nFaith2Ethiopia.com

Hey everyone! Hope you all are having a great start to this new year! It seems we are all a little on edge with the current economical situation in our great country. While I have no idea WHAT tomorrow holds I know WHO holds it and we must all rely on Him! I am forwarding this e-mail to all of you and ask that you forward it to everyone in your address book and encourage them to do so as well. These are very dear friends of mine and it is my hope that we can rally around them and pray the precious girls home!!! I know also that they would love for people to sign their guestbook and help pass along encouragement for them during this time. When you look at their site and see the bracelets they are selling, I have some of them as well so you can contact me directly if you'd like and I will get them to you. If you are not near us I will ship them for free! You can keep up with the whole adoption process through their website and blog and I encourage everyone to do that. I have been doing that with some people I don't even know and it's so amazing to see God working in peoples lives. 143 MILLION, THAT'S ABOUT HOW MANY ORPHANS THERE ARE IN THE WORLD!!! That's enough kids to go around the world at the equator 3 TIMES!!! I promise that ANYthing you do even one dollar toward helping bring an orphan home is one dollar closer to giving a child the love of a mother and father, the assurance of 3 meals a day, and knowing there is a safe place to lay there head. Here is another way to look at the number of orphans in the world... Picture being on a very long road trip. If you had these orphans hold hands in a line, you would see over 1,700 orphans per mile.If you were to follow that line of Orphans holding hands, driving 60 mph, you could drive 24 hours a day seeing 1,700 orphans every mile, hour after hour, day after day without stopping for over two months, and you would still see orphans holding hands. How long would it take to stop, and with compassion take one child in your arms, to make a difference for at least one? They are hungry, lonely, afraid, have holes in their shoes, and face the greatest challenges of any children on the face of the earth. They are very real children who need someone to love them and help them. Join us, if not in bringing an orphan to your own home, then at least helping someone else make that way for a child just a bit easier. Blessings and Happy New Year,

Fortune Cookie

We went to a Makotos to eat this weekend, Chris' fortune cookie said....You will soon be crossing the great waters. Now we are not really into fortune telling via cookie, however were going to go with this one :).

Just in case anyone wants to know..Our paypal is now working.

Also, We started wearing our prayer bracelet's this weekend. Along with our neighbors, whom happen to be some of our best friends. They have three children also. It has been really sweet hearing the children talk about the bracelets and how they have been praying.

GOD BLESS,
Angel
